Writing Task #1

Below are a couple of super examples of the writing that our students worked on today for their first writing task. I'm sure you will be impressed by the use of creative language, as well as the pictures that are created in your heads. Well done Tom, Joseph and Charlotte for sharing your writing today.

Tom
Whizz, a bright light of silver shot past the window pane.  The little child slipped out of bed and strolled over to the window.

She looked out over a moonless cloudy sky, with the great cloud mountains whirling mysteriously in the night air.   She could just see the small bright white light shooting through the sky like a knife cutting open the clouds. She stayed sentry.  Looking into the vastness, she saw things no one had ever seen before. In the dangerous night ride she saw a large bat-like creature coming down from the great cloud mountains, it uttered a few melancholy cries and then dove back into the darkness.  What you should know about her house is that it's one of those large inflatable blimps.

‘’Come back to bed child, it's 3 a.m’’.  She rushed back to bed without looking again out of the window, if she did she would have seen the bright white ray of light coming closer and closer and closer until the scorching heat filled the entire blimp with its boiling madness, and burst into flames.

The beasts.
Joseph

The noise woke me with a start. I could hear voices filled with anger. I pulled off the covers and ambled over to the window. The moonlight enveloped me, I peered out and that’s when I saw… the fight of two beasts!

I hesitated, fighting my own mind, “Is this a dream?” No, it couldn’t be, the scales were too real, glaring down at me. The beasts  fangs pierced through skin, their talons as sharp as rage, ripped off flesh. Then both their heads turned…

One of the beasts let out a roar. Anger rippled down their scales. They had not wanted to be disturebed.. The other beast opened its mouth and a wave of flame danced into the sky. Then both beasts turned down and propelled themselves forwards into the clouds, nesting a hole in the center of them.all in the blink of an eye they were gone.

A secret smile escaped me as I walked back to my bed and wandered off into a sleep.

The midnight beast
                                                      By Charlotte Campbell

It seemed like a normal night however, little did the girl know that what was going to happen next would change her life...

The stars sparkled, and everything seemed normal, but the girl knew that something wasn't
right. Suddenly a huge burst of light flooded into the room, she shielded her eyes.
As the light faded the girl heard a soft wail, she felt like it was hypnotising her,
slowly the girl started to walk towards her bedroom window. The wail became louder, and louder. The girl heard the piercing crash as she tumbled through the window.

The girl screamed as she fell into certain death, suddenly she landed on the hard but furry body, her eyes widened in shock when she saw what had saved her, it was a creamy white Pegasus!
Is this "real?" she murmured as the Pegasus flew her over the clouds. The Pegasus landed at the girl's balcony, the girl took one last look at the Pegasus before the it flew away, never to be seen again.
